There are numerous children’s books out there that have been turned into movies. And with families spending more time at home together, we at Shepherd Montessori Learning Center thought we might help make the experience more fun by sharing with you a list of books to read before the next family movie night!
- The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg.
This classic Christmas picture book is appealing to both children and adults. It tells the story of a young boy who embarked on a journey to the magical North Pole. If you and your children enjoy adventure and magic, this story is for you! - Shrek! by William Steig.
We’re all probably familiar with this animated classic, but did you know that “Shrek!” first started as a hilarious children’s book? You can read a summary of the tale on Goodreads here: https://bit.ly/39CZPFS - Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
While we’re on the topic of ogres, monsters, and mischief, have you read “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak? This is a story about a little boy who traveled to a land of mysterious beasts where he became the leader.
Whichever tale you choose to tell your children, there are lessons that can be gleaned from each of these stories’ pages. Let your child pick out which he/she would like to read.
